The Civil Wars (website/twitter) are hands down one of my favorite band/duos right now. Their album Barton Hallow is fantastically phenomenal – one of the best albums of 2011.
Two weeks ago they stopped by KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and played a killer set. They opened with their hit single, “Poison & Wine”, following it up with my favorite song, “20 Years”.
They followed with more songs, including the album’s title track, “Barton Follow”, and “From This Valley” which didn’t make the album. They also played a cover of “I Want You Back” originally by The Jackson 5.
There’s also an interview, which is insightful and makes me like Joy and John Paul so much more. They’re fun and seem like genuinely great people.
Joy and John Paul have amazing chemistry and are very talented musicians. I can’t help but be moved by their stunning lyrics, passion, and harmonies. They are also amazing live, and their live performances capture their passion – they were born to play music.
I can’t get enough of The Civil Wars.
