Finally: Adele – Live At The Royal Albert Hall CD/DVD

Adele (website/twitter/facebook) is finally officially releasing a live album and DVD!

It’s called Adele – Live at the Royal Albert Hall. It’ll be available as CD/DVD and CD/Blu-Ray on the 29th of November. Any music fan will appreciate this… best holiday gift!

Adele has had a massive year, with the biggest album of the year, 21. She rose from an indie-underground sweetheart to a world-wide phenomenon, garnering acclaim from absolutely everyone.

The release features a full 90 minute concert recorded at the legendary Royal Albert Hall in London. All her hits will be included, as well as her marvelous covers of Bonnie Raitt‘s “If I Can’t Make You Love Me” and The Steeldrivers “If It Hadn’t Been For Love”.

Of course there will be additional backstage footage, hopefully capturing Adele’s candid sense of humor and personality.

Prior to this release, there have only been a smattering of official live releases from Adele, including a limited re-release of 19 which had her whole Hotel Cafe set (which was fantastic to witness live), as well as two iTunes Live EPs (iTunes London 2011 video).

I’ve been fortunate to have seen Adele perform three times in the past four years – and it’s definitely a treat. This CD/DVD will not compare to experiencing the power of her voice, but it’ll serve as a fantastic reminder of the nights, and possibly a consultation to those who were not able to attend shows that were cancelled or rescheduled.

What a way to cap off a massive year for Adele! Well done!

Digging: Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (Noel>Liam)

When Oasis split, I was saddened by the news. They were one of the best BritPop bands. Their songs and albums are among the best.

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, is a masterpiece, and has the fantastic “Wonderwall”, “Champagne Supernova” and my favorite, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”. Such iconic songs!

Then came news of Beady Eye, Liam Gallagher‘s new project, and I was excited… until I heard it. Not a fan – it just didn’t work for me. YIKES!

Older brother Noel recently released his solo project, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (website/twitter/facebook). Their eponymous album was released a week ago, and, to my surprise and delight, it’s actually quite good.

Actually, it’s very good. It’s fantastic.

And the UK thinks so as well. The album topped the charts, and has had two singles in the top 20. Liam’s album didn’t do well, nor did the single… it just wasn’t good. It must be killing Liam given their infamous rivalry.

New Tune: Rebecca Ferguson – “Nothing’s Real But Love”

Rebecca Ferguson was the runner up last season on X-Factor, but not for lack of talent.

She’s got such a fantastic voice, full of texture. It’s instantly recognizable.

Here’s her fantastic audition:

Since the X-Factor ended, Rebecca has been working on her debut album, Heaven, which will be released on the 5th of December.

She co-wrote all the songs on the album. The lead single was co-written with Eg White, and is called “Nothing’s Real But Love”:
