Cover: Laura Mvula meets Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature”

“Human Nature” by Michael Jackson is one of my all-time favorite songs. It’s such a beautiful and classic song. And fortunately, one that hasn’t been covered too many times, and most covers are great and compliment the original.

Laura Mvula recently performed this stunning stripped cover for BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge. It’s just the beautiful and smooth vocals of Laura and a cello. Interesting choice for instrument to accompany her, and it works.

It’s beautiful.

And while I’m talking about Laura, here’s her latest single, “Green Gardens”.

I really love her voice, style and originality. I really need to pick up her recently released debut album, Sing To The Moon.

Cover: Mike Tompkins meets Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” and Justin Beiber’s “As Long As You Love Me”

Earlier this week, Mike Tompkins released an original track with Glenn Morrison called “Secrets”. And today, we were treated to his first cover of 2013. And it’s one of my favorites to date.

Mike Tompkins’ mashes Taylor Swift‘s current hit, “I Knew You Were Trouble”, with Justin Beiber‘s “As Long As You Love Me”.

And as it’s Mike Tompkins, he doesn’t use any instruments – just his voice and mouth. It’s fascinating how he breaks down the song and adds all the layers back, with just his voice and mouth. Be sure to watch the end of the video to see the song build one layer at a time.

I definitely bought the track from iTunes and have had it on repeat all morning… sorry neighbors!

I’m well impressed.

Cover: Ben Howard meets Ellie Goulding’s “Figure 8″ on BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge

Ellie Goulding‘s “Figure 8″ was one of the songs off her latest album, Halcyon, that jumped out at me. It’s dark and dramatic, and just beautiful.

Ben Howard recently did an amazing cover of the song on BBC Radio 1′s Live Lounge with Fearne Cotton.

What a beautiful and unique take on the song. I really really love it. What do you all think?
