“Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)” by Arcade Fire is one of my all-time favorite songs.
I love the lyrics of the song, and can really relate to them. How many times have you felt this way?:
“They heard me singing and they told me to stop
Quit these pretentious things and just punch the clock
These days my life, I feel it has no purpose
But late at night the feelings swim to the surface‘Cause on the surface the city lights shine
They’re calling at me, come and find your kind
Sometimes I wonder if the world’s so small
That we can never get away from the sprawl.”
Their latest album, Suburbs, is fantastic. I was elated when it won album of the year at last year’s Grammy awards, and saddened by the fact that many people hadn’t hear of Arcade Fire or their music… they’re missing out. It’s seriously a brilliant album… if you haven’t heard it, check it out.
I LOVE “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)” so much that I can’t even justify it. It’s just amazing.
And they just released two music videos for the song, one traditional video (below), and a super fun interactive video.
This isn’t their first interactive video, they’ve really stepped their game up with their music videos. They also had an awesome interactive music video for “We Used To Wait”.. which remains my favorite interactive music video to date. It’s better than their current interactive video for “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)“, Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”, and Andy Grammers’ “Keep Your Head Up”. If you haven’t seen it, take the next few minutes to have your mind blown… Â side note: it really does work best with Chrome. Such a smart and genius concept!
And since I love this song so much, I’m going to add two more live performances of this song… yeah, the song is that brilliant.
The first is the band performing the song on Unstaged for Youtube. The band is super talented and their live performanes are better than their album tracks.
And an acoustic live performance of the song… yes, the song works brilliantly as an acoustic track.
Did I mention how much I love this song? Ahhhh! It’s so amazing. Hopefully you like Arcade Fire, their album Suburbs, and “Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)” as much as I do… cause they’re awesome.
