As Michael Buble once said, “HOLY SHIT BALLS!†There were several albums that I LOVE from this past year that escaped the initial list. It was a lapse in my organization, and in no way a reflection of the album or the artists.
Here’s the three that I missed (and there may be more… whoopsie)
Justin Nozuka – You I Wind Land and Sea
You I Wind Land and Sea is Justin Nozuka’s sophomore album and his best to date. The album is packed with great songs and songwriting, and Justin’s soulful voice and thoughtful lyrics. My favorite tracks include the lead single, “Heartless”, “Carried You”, “Soulless Man”, “Hollow Man”, and two amazing songs, “How Low” and “Woman Put Your Weapon Down”.
KT Tunstall – Tiger Suit
Tiger Suit is an interesting album and very diverse. The tracks on the album range from pop/dance tracks to songs with more soul and folk. While the album is eclectic, KT Tunstall’s style and sound remains, and it’s a fantastic record. Our favorite songs include the albums fun opening track, “Uummannaq Song”, “Glamour Puss”, “Push That Knot Away”, “Difficulty”, “Fade Like A Shadow”, “Lost”, and our absolute favorite, “(Still A) Weirdo”.
Ry Cuming – Ry Cuming
I was introduced to Ry Cuming when he opened for Justin Nozuka and he is a not only a great singer-songwriter, but a great humanitarian, environmentalist, and all around good guy. And his self-titled debut album is brilliant. He has a rock-edge, but is also a laid-back surfer, and the songs on the album reflect the many facets of Ry. Our favorite tracks include “Some Kind of Love”, “Tearing Me Apart”, the naughty “Chemistry”, “City of Lights”. We also hear his softer side on “Harder to Say”, the emotional “Heartbreak”, “Home” with Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, and “Always Remember Me” with Sara Bareilles. If I had to rank all the album of 2010, Ry Cuming’s album would make the top 10. And he’s great live, take a listen to the album and catch his shows.
And of course, here’s the first list of our Favorite Albums of 2010.
Hopefully this is now complete…
